Motivated by a personal turning point at a young age, Dr. Loveland strives to live her life with joy and purpose, hoping to bring this commitment to all her endeavors at work and at home. She hopes her patients receive from her not only highly skilled medical care, but true empathy and support for their challenges and goals. When not working with her patients in the office or hospital, you might spot Dr. Loveland hiking local trails or running with friends, at the yoga studio or swimming laps. Or on the sidelines of her children’s sports fields. Or with her nose buried in a book that she’s madly reading before the next meeting of book club.

Dr. Joan Loveland
Dr. Joan Loveland is a board-certified OB-gyn who has been in private practice since 2002, providing skilled and comprehensive care to the women in the DC area. With an emphasis on preventive medicine and “whole-person” care, Dr Loveland strives to assist all of her patients in their pursuit of optimal health. After graduating from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Dr. Loveland completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Maryland. During her residency, she delivered her son at 28 weeks while hiking in the Adirondacks and spent several months in the NICU in Burlington, Vermont, as he grew strong enough to come home. Her daughter joined the team right after she completed her residency and Dr. Loveland has embraced the challenge of juggling her mommy duties with her love of medicine ever since.
