
Dr. Laura Kiszkiel
Dr. Laura Kiszkiel is a board-certified OB/GYN who brings a thoughtful, compassionate approach to caring for women through every stage of life. She values building long-term relationships with her patients and believes deeply in meeting women where they are, whether that means routine gynecologic care, pregnancy, or major life transitions. Dr. Kiszkiel is especially passionate about the continuity of care that OB/GYN allows and describes delivering babies as one of the most meaningful experiences in medicine.
Originally planning a career in pediatrics, Dr. Kiszkiel discovered her true calling during her OB/GYN rotation in medical school, where her path quickly and decisively changed. She loves the unique opportunity OB/GYN provides to support women medically, emotionally, and personally across decades of care. Dr. Kiszkiel joins the Bloom OB/GYN team excited to care for patients in the DC area with empathy, expertise, and enthusiasm.
Dr. Kiszkiel completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Notre Dame, earned her medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine, and completed her OB/GYN residency at the University of Florida. She has lived in many parts of the country and now calls Burke, Virginia home with her husband and two daughters.
Dr. Kiszkiel’s practice includes all areas of obstetrics and gynecology.
Things You Might Not Know About Me
EDUCATION/TRAINING: University of Notre Dame (BS), Tulane University School of Medicine (MD), University of Florida (OB/GYN Residency)
WHY OB/GYN? I entered medical school planning to become a pediatrician, but one OB/GYN rotation changed everything. I love caring for women through every phase of life, and delivering a baby is still the absolute best feeling.
WHO KNEW: My dream second career would be selling wedding dresses. I love helping women find the perfect look for a big moment and being surrounded by beautiful gowns.
TRAVEL MEMORIES: Exploring South Africa, especially Kruger National Park and the wine region; visiting the Pilbara region of Australia; sailing through Greece; and traveling to Maui with my family.
SOMEDAY I PLAN TO GO TO: New Zealand, Iceland, and back to Africa to take my family on safari.
THESE ARE SOME THINGS I DO IN MY SPARE TIME: Baking, walking my dog, spending time with my husband and two daughters, and staying involved in my girls’ activities. I’m also a Girl Scout leader for two separate troops.
A REALLY BIG ACCOMPLISHMENT: Becoming a doctor.
FAVORITE BOOK: I read everything. Right now, it’s the Fourth Wing trilogy, but that will probably change soon.
FAVORITE TV SHOW: The Handmaid’s Tale
