Things you might not know about Me

Birthplace: Sterling, IL

Places I've Lived: Sterling, Champaign, & Chicago IL; a summer in Seattle WA; Washington DC

Education/Training: Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, OB/GYN residency; Chief Resident; University of Illinois

Why OB/GYN? I love the exciting pace of OB/GYN coupled with the diversity of patient care that I am able to provide on a daily basis – anything from seeing patients in the office, performing a complex gynecologic surgery, to the delivering a newborn at midnight.

Who Knew: I’ve kissed the Blarney Stone. I hate scary movies. I’ve never seen any Star Wars films.

Travel Memories: Traveling is my absolute favorite pastime. While I’ve enjoyed all of my travels and the opportunities I have had to immerse myself in new cultures, my recent top favorite is between sightseeing and eating paella in Barcelona or enjoying the food, wine, and renaissance art of northern Italy.

Someday I plan to go to: 10,000 feet above the ground in a perfectly good plane, open the door, and skydive out of it. Until I get a little more courage, I’d like to visit the Galapagos Islands.

These are some things I do in my spare time: Traveling with my husband and family. Relaxing on the sofa with our Yorkshire Terrier. Reading anything from a fictional mystery to my latest OB/GYN journal. Trying my hand at brewing craft beer.

A really big accomplishment: Getting married at the U.S. Supreme Court. Buying our first home, painting the entire place including the ceilings, and surviving the process.

Favorite Book: One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, by Ken Kesey

Favorite TV Show: Modern Family or Schitt’s Creek – something witty that I can get a few laughs from.

Favorite Words: “Naptime”

Favorite Quote: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.” -Franklin D Roosevelt

Favorite Food: Easy. It’s definitely Chocolate – bars, candies, cakes, cookies… I’m not picky. Currently, chocolate truffles from Bruges, Belgium rank highest.

What superpower would you most like to have? Teleportation - It’d be nice to skip rush-hour traffic, crowded busses, or airport lines and get to where I’m going a little quicker allowing more time to enjoy.
